One of the greatest enemies of the Christian faith is religion itself! Where a relationship with God based on faith brings life to the believer, religion does the exact opposite. God is not interested in formulas and routines. He is interested in our hearts. Washing the outside of a cup does not make its insides clean. This was the problem Jesus had with the Pharisees. Religion focuses attention on the outside, whilst God is interested on the inside. Enjoy the sermon.

Hi Watchman, so True, and yes it also was a poweful message,we can’t earn Salvation but we will show we have it , have you ever done a study about putting our evil the flesh nature to death? I will give you some Scripture perhaps you may find more and perhaps do a Post about it because not one of us can live the Christian life in the Flesh only in Christ Jesus , who tells us he has set us from the salvery of sin which means we will not coose to sin having His mind.
Galations 24 -26 And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. if we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.
Colossians 3:4-6 When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming.
2 Corinthians 7:1 Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
Colossians 3:1-17 Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry.Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. Here there is no Greek or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all. Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Christian Love from us both -Anne
Hi again Anne! I haven’t done a thorough study on putting the flesh to death. I will take up your suggestion to do so and perhaps write a post on the topic as it is a very crucial one. Perhaps many believers gave up along the way because they felt they were fighting a losing battle. Many forget the important role played by the Holy Spirit in all this and end up frustrated as they try to take up the role of Sanctifier in their own lives. Some are disllusioned because people wrongly told them that once they gave their lives to Christ, their struggle against the flesh would end. I would certainly enjoy doing a post on this Anne. Thanks for making that suggestion. God bless
Great post absolutely enjoyed it. And I hate to say it but he’s right. Thank you so much for sharing…Many, many blessings to you….Robin
Hi Robin! Glad you enjoyed the post. I concur in saying that he is right. Thanks so much for watching.
As you say Watchman, so many dump them all in together under heading of religion. But as you know religion is man reaching up to God and going and doing many things and levels. Where as Christianity is God reaching down to man , through His Son Jesus and saying I love you.
Blessings
Ron
Hi Ron. I couldn’t have broken it down any better myself. Religion goes against everything we know that God did to restore us to right relationship with Him through His Son. We can never earn that status but religion fools us into thinking we can. God bless u Ron
Yes Watchman, as Anne has shared with you and the Bible tells it as it is, we will also show when we have Salvation, more wretched are they that think they can continue to sin and not walk in Love and yet still claim they are saved.
Blessings
Ron
Thanks Ron.I always appreciate your sharing insightful nuggets from the Word of God.
