In 2006, Paul Washer became even more infamous following his preaching of this message entitled ‘Examine Yourself’. It was a very hard-hitting message that evoked an extreme of responses from Christians. One extreme took the message to heart as the Spirit of God used the message as an avenue to reach the hardened hearts of believers who had become oblivious to their backsliding in the faith. The other extreme became offended by the message as their pride got in the way of God’s work of conviction by His Spirit. This is a very timely message as a lot of Christians are living hypocritical lives that could lead to eternal damnation if not addressed. In this sermon, you can hear God’s cry to His people to turn back to Him. This message could transform your life.

Word…!!
If there’s one thing I’ll remember from this first listen it will be him effectively saying that heaven doesn’t save us, knowing JESUS does…
53:15 – So many people say “if I just make it to Heaven I’ll be secure…” but he asks, “where was the devil when we fell…?? Its not Heaven that makes us secure, its being in CHRIST that makes us secure” whoa… some obvious stuff I never thought of before!!
For me it just highlights how futile the human (I hope its not just me) inclination of cutting corners to get to the destination is.
Whether its getting rich, physically fit, mature, learning etc, I’m too often looking for the shortest route to the destination (whether mine or GOD’s). Being candid it’s partially a fruit of impatience, which happens to be a fruit of the flesh… not the SPIRIT… so neither good nor advisable..
The point it makes to me is that more often than not maturity, which is a function of the journey and its challenges is the key thing… and why not. Isn’t Spiritual maturity a sign of sanctification..!?
Maturity comes from walking with CHRIST, trusting HIM and living that Truth, not just knowing that’s what we to do… So help us GOD….
Amazing analysis Toyin! The sermon was really challenging but full of gems and precious nuggets. The fact that heaven should not be our aim but rather Christ Himself is another revelation. After all, Heaven is only Heaven because God dwells there. He makes it heaven so it makes sense to pursue His presence throughout our lifetime. Thanks bro
