The Great Sculptor at Work

Have you ever watched a sculptor at work? He usually starts of with a huge piece of granite and an imprint of the intended image on his mind. The sculptor chisels the stone day after day until the intended image starts to emerge from the slab of rock. Finally, the sculptor puts the last finishing touches and we have a masterpiece after a considerable amount of time and effort on his part.

So it is with our lives in the hands of a God Who is a loving Sculptor. When we submit our lives before Him, it is as though a great slab of granite has been placed in front of a Master Sculptor. He has an intended image in mind, that of His Son, Jesus. He gets straight to work, chipping away all the nasty thoughts, habits, addictions, lifestyles, attitudes and so on. His Chisel is His Word and His cleaning brush is the Holy Spirit.

We protest from time to time but His desire to see us enter the full potential of our Christlikeness compels Him to gently remind us that those flaws have to go otherwise His masterpiece would be compromised in value. As we yield to Him, the work is completed faster. He invites us to come to Him even with our flaws but He loves us too much to let us stay that way.

God is creating a masterpiece out of your life. Be patient and submitted to Him as He chips away whatever isn’t in the image of His Son in your life. It may take a while and it may be painful sometimes but the Sculptor knows exactly what He’s doing with your life. Trust Him with it. This video beautifully illustrates this message.
